Here’s one for firework enthusiasts: The Northern Lights are expected to light up the sky again this week in Norway.
The aurora borealis, as this spectacular phenomenon is called, are colors seen on the northern US as well as Russia and Canada. The rare phenomenon is known to glow for about 30 minutes in every hour, but when it occurs, it’s expected to be stunning, Northern Lights Reports reports.
“This is the year to go for a winter wonderland winter night because you are really going to be able to see the Northern Lights,” said Katrine Swanson, a scientist at Nuna Aktiebolag for Norwegian Space Center.
“People should try and go outside during the Northern Lights to get an idea of what it’s like to be able to experience the Northern Lights in the heavens,” she said in an interview with Norwegian magazine Planetsomalhas.
“Everyone has been surprised how good it was in the past week.”
The annual phenomenon was one of the most spectacular northern lights shows seen in years.
A powerful typhoon means the lights won’t last for long. Yet some cities in Norway are expecting to see more lights later this week.
