With holiday windows. rekindling social media buzz as unprecedentedly loud as its premier market gatecrasher, New York Fashion Week: Men’s will launch its second season tomorrow evening on Lafayette Street, while starting off the new fashion season in earnest in Milan, both packed with sold-out runway shows, and retailers, seasoned at the long ribbon-cutting ceremony, sporting generous pins of the season’s best-selling accessories, excitedly scanning fashions to unearth the secret must-have for the coming fall.

Knotty, knotty. It’s all a bit complicated to understand. Ever since Christmas Window Week , a yearly tradition of the famed city department store Bloomingdale’s, its windows have captured the imaginations of the curious, the hip, the fashion enthusiast. Since its inception in 2006, the only seasonal iconism at a department store is the Christmas tree, and this past year, as in previous years, New York Fashion Week: Men’s takeoverstook over the floors of Bloomingdale’s location downtown.

Each year, the iconic department store erected a window display, unveiling the season’s visions of luxury clothing and accessories every evening and evoking the greatest names in fashion. Along with their Twitter feeds, catered media and acerbic editorials, the stores’ social media attentions were, as always, a welcome presence at the walls and shelves of their windows. As the designers’ patterns literally rearranged themselves, the stores’ social media channels pinpointed the style scores. Not only do these snapshots offer clues to the designer looks of the year, they’re also a tale of different retailers, they offer a comfy dose of couture for an appreciative line of admirers.
