“When you look at the Lisbonis and Real Madrid they have black arms and white shirts, and Manchester United don’t have white arms and black jerseys,” Alves said, defending the kits.
In the British way of showing their feelings about a team’s wardrobe choice, the Internet picked up on Alves’ remark and its hashtag, #blackhairforblackplayers. The hashtag has been spreading on the social media platform Twitter, catching people by surprise and socializing. Alves doesn’t understand it either, he said.
“I don’t understand what’s happening, they don’t know how to express themselves. Even white people,” said Alves. “I don’t know why people hate that. You know, when they see someone else’s black hair, or white people with no colored hair.”
Fair enough but to think that when Cristiano Ronaldo steps onto the pitch to play against France in Russia, he would have to somehow forgo the obvious visual statement and keep his locks black? I would think not.
