Messi on Messi, Messi and Messi: Kick and rally to save children’s lives

Leo Messi spoke to CNN International at UNICEF’s Alliance for a Global Goal summit in New York on September 23, in advance of his Argentina squad’s first match back after suspension against Bolivia on Wednesday, which he also helped to host as part of the AFG Summit in Buenos Aires on September 23.

The two-time UCL and three-time La Liga winner spoke to CNN International’s football team at the UN to discuss the workings of the AFG and his club Barcelona in the build-up to a return to the pitch. He also commented on team-mate Andres Iniesta’s retirement.

The AFG is an international, collective, pan-tribal effort led by United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, to bring real change to children’s lives. Led by Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, the various councils in the Alliance represent UNICEF’s priorities in four key areas – Education, healthcare, water and sanitation, and community services and social protection. The alliance has played a critical role in making the UN Sustainable Development Goals happen, and aims to achieve these globally by 2030.

Leo Messi’s answers and video, all of which appear on www.taylormartin.tv, are inspired by UNICEF’s youth-driven ‘United We Can’ campaign.
